Hotel Details

Dating back to around 250 years ago, the Rajbari Bawali speaks volume about the privileged and wealthy life of the Zamindars of the bygone era. This remarkable masterpiece has witnessed 170 years of grand parties, living and prominent guests. In addition, the luxurious property also saw the downfall of the Zamindars post-independence and how it eventually led to the ruin of the Rajbari Bawali.

The situation deteriorated so badly, that at one stage the property was used as a movie hall and for film shoots for raising money. However, this also didn’t work. It was then on 23rd January 2008 that Ajay Rawla, the current owner accidentally stepped on this property. He fell in love at first sight with the place although in ruins at that time. He immediately decided to revamp the property and recreate the old magic.

This initiated the journey of the Rajbari that stands today. After much of the dedicated efforts, the palace has been salvaged and exquisitely restored to reflect the opulence, style and grace of the Zamindars. Another key point to note is that all this has been done without evading the former glory of the heritage edifice.

Featuring 30 lavish rooms, the Rajbari Bawali excels in pampering the discerning travelers. Fully equipped with luxury and modern day comforts, these rooms offer a memorable stay. In addition, the feel of sleeping on the traditional Bengali hand-crafted four-poster bed is beyond description. Cherish the use of high-quality cotton and linens throughout. A collection of artistic photographs adorning the walls of the rooms is an added plus. Overall, you can rest assured of the authentic heritage experience here.
