Hotel Details

Glenburn Tea Estate was established in the year 1859 by a Scottish tea company before it passed onto the historical tea pioneers of Darjeeling the Prakashes. Popularly called as the “Chaiwala family” or “tea planters”, their history goes back over hundred years. Now, the third and fourth generation descendants of Prakash family have converted this piece of family legacy into a popular heritage hotel in West Bengal. 

There are total of 8 suites in this heritage hotel of India which are distributed in two wings of the hotel. Each wing has 4 suites along with gardens, verandahs, terraces and common areas which can be accessed by each and every guest. The two wings:

  • Burra Bungalow: The four suites in this wing are:
    • The Kanchenjunga Suite: This spacious Victorian style suite gave amazing vies of Kanchenjunga Mountain.
    • The Planters' Suite: This suite is known for their wall décor and breathtaking views of Simbong Valley. It is an ideal room for nature lovers.
    • The Rose Suite: This suite is designed in the shape of a rose and make for an ideal honeymoon.
    • The Simbong Butterfly Room: This suite is the smallest suite but all necessary amenities are provided here.
  • Water Lily Bungalow: The four suites in this wing are:
    • The Camelia Suite: This suite is decorated with yellow and green colored Camelia plants.
    • The Rangeet Suite: This suite offers gorgeous views of Rangeet River.
    • The Rung Dung Suite: This room offers stunning picturesque sceneries of Rung Dung River and Darjeeling Town.
    • The Singalila Suite:Watching the scene of sun rising over Glorious Singalila Mountain is the best feature offered by this suite.

The dining hall serves guests with delicious dishes which are cooked as per the requirement of the guests. The cuisines offered in here are European, Indian and South-East Asian. All the ingredients are plucked from hotel’s own organic garden. Favorite dishes here include the famous recipes of the royal Chaiwala family including Burmese Khow Suey, chocolate brownies and tea-leaf pakoras. The guests love the aroma and taste of the variety of teas that are served here.
