History of Sarita Mahal
Hotel Sarita Mahal is part of the Mandvi Mahal, a haveli that belonged to the Mahida Rajputs. The haveli dates back to the late 19th century. The Mahidas ruled Mandvi, and neighbouring Surat with their base at Mandvi.
They came to Mandwa after Surat was taken over by the British. The s elegantly architectured haveli with historic palias outside the main gate is splendid. Like all havelis, the Sarita Mahal also has a central courtyard decorated with potted plants and intricate carvings.
